Your Telehealth Questions, Answered
Clear answers about how Telemate Health works, what consultations cost, and who you will be speaking with.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral?
You can book most consultations directly through our website. Your practitioner will advise if a referral to another provider would be appropriate.
What do I need for a telehealth consultation?
You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, plus a stable internet connection. No app download is required. We recommend finding a quiet, private space for your appointment.
How do I book?
Choose your consultation type, select an available time, and complete payment at booking. You will receive a confirmation email with your secure appointment link.
Can I see the same practitioner each time?
Yes. We encourage continuity of care and aim to match you with the same practitioner for follow-up appointments where possible.
Services
What services does Telemate Health offer?
Our telehealth platform covers General GP consultations, Mental Health support, Weight Management, Vitality consultations, Chronic Care, and DVA Services. Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate pathway based on your individual health needs.
Can I get a prescription via telehealth?
If deemed medically appropriate, your practitioner can issue an eScript during your consultation. eScripts are sent via SMS and can be redeemed at any Australian pharmacy.
How does a Weight Management consultation work?
Your practitioner will review your health history, current concerns, and goals. If a medically supervised weight management plan is appropriate for you, they will discuss the available options, which may include lifestyle guidance and, if deemed medically appropriate, prescription support.
What does a Mental Health consultation involve?
A Mental Health consultation provides a GP appointment focused on your psychological and emotional wellbeing with a qualified practitioner. They may recommend a Mental Health Treatment Plan, referrals to allied health professionals, or other support as appropriate. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636. In an emergency, call 000.
What is a Vitality consultation?
Vitality consultations involve a health assessment with your GP. Your practitioner will discuss personalised options based on your individual health needs, if deemed medically appropriate.
What is a Chronic Care consultation?
Chronic Care consultations are for patients managing ongoing health conditions. Your practitioner will review your current management plan, discuss any concerns, and adjust your care as needed. Regular follow-up appointments help maintain continuity of care.

How much does a consultation cost?
Consultation fees vary by service type. All pricing is displayed clearly before you book, so there are no surprises. Visit our pricing page for current consultation fees across all services.
Are there Medicare rebates for telehealth?
Some General GP and Mental Health consultations may attract Medicare rebates depending on your circumstances. Your practitioner can advise whether a rebate may apply during your consultation.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. All consultation fees are displayed upfront before you confirm your booking. If additional costs arise (such as pathology or further referrals), your practitioner will discuss these with you during the consultation.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellations made more than 2 hours before your appointment may be rescheduled or refunded. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for full details.
