Common questions about GP telehealth

Do I need a referral to book a GP telehealth?

No. You can book directly. Simply choose the service you need, select a time, and connect with your GP.

What can a telehealth GP help with?

A telehealth GP can consult on many of the same concerns a GP sees in person, including infections, skin conditions, chronic condition management, mental health check-ins, and more. Telehealth is not suitable for all health concerns. Your practitioner may recommend in-person assessment, urgent care, specialist referral, further investigation, or no treatment depending on your circumstances.

How do I receive my prescription?

If your GP determines a prescription is medically appropriate, an eScript can be sent via SMS to your phone following your consultation. You can present it at any pharmacy in Australia. Your GP may also recommend non-prescribing options such as lifestyle changes, monitoring, or referral.

Is telehealth appropriate for children?

Our GPs can consult with children for many common concerns. A parent or guardian should be present during the consultation for patients under 16. Your GP may recommend an in-person visit if a physical examination is needed.

Does Medicare cover telehealth GP visits?

Some consultations may be suitable for Medicare rebates depending on the type of service and your circumstances. Your GP can advise during your appointment.

How quickly can I see a GP?

Appointments are typically available within 15 to 30 minutes of booking, subject to practitioner availability. Appointments are available 7 days a week, including evenings and weekends.
